Pointe shoe appeal

Will you help The Royal Ballet perform The Nutcracker this Christmas by supporting the Pointe Shoe Appeal?

Every Season The Royal Ballet dances through over 6,000 pairs of pointe shoes. With an average cost of £39 a pair, the Company needs to spend nearly £250,000 every year on pointe shoes. As an example, in The Nutcracker there are 47 roles that require pointe shoes, from the Sugar Plum to the Snowflakes, so one performance can cost £1,833 in pointe shoes alone.

There are ways that you can support our dancers as they perform this festive favourite. For each performance of The Nutcracker:

  • £39  provides one pair of pointe shoes for the Sugar Plum Fairy.
  • £117 provides a performance worth of pointe shoes for the Sugar Plum Fairy and Clara.
  • £625  will provide a pair of pointe shoes for all the Snowflakes.

The Royal Ballet is preparing to perform the wintery majesty of The Nutcracker over the Christmas period. However, the long terms effects of the pandemic continue to be felt by the Company and the Royal Opera House and we are thankful for all your support and for gifts of any size.

To make a gift, complete the form below or call our Fundraising Officer, Lewis on +44 (0)20 7212 9127.

Thank you for supporting the Royal Opera House.
