On 9 July 2019, The Royal Opera's production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro will be livestreamed for free from 6.30pm BST via the Royal Opera House's Facebook and YouTube pages as well as OperaVision.

The livestream is part of BP Big Screens, which offers UK audiences the chance to experience free culture on their doorstep with free outdoor relays of productions from Covent Garden to parks and squares around the UK.

Mozart's great comic opera of intrigue, misunderstanding and forgiveness stars Christian Gerhaher and Simon Keenlyside as the clever Figaro and his aristocratic master.

The operas's score is packed full of wonderful music covering a huge range of emotions and for this production, director David McVicar sets the action in a château in 1830 on the eve of France's second revolution, exploring political and class conflicts, but also maintaining Mozart and librettist Da Ponte's humanity and wit.
