Biography

Canadian soprano Sarah Dufresne joined the Jette Parker Artists Programme in the 2022/23 Season following a two-year artist residency at L’Atelier lyrique de l’Opera de Montreal. She was awarded the Second Prize (Aria) in the Montreal International Musical Competition and named one of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s ‘Top 30 Classical Musicians under 30’ (2022). Recent Royal Opera performances include Frasquita (Carmen), Gianetta (L’elisir d’amore), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel), Voce dal Cielo (Don Carlo), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Hirt (Tannhäuser), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and Slave (Salome) on the Main Stage, and Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia) and Tusnelda (Arminio)in the Linbury Theatre. She has appeared as soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem (Banatul Filarmonica), Handel’s  Messiah (Chorus Niagara) and Nora in Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea (Opera de Montreal). She has also performed with companies and orchestras across Canada, including Orchestre de l’Agora, Grand Philharmonic Choir of Kitchener Waterloo, Ottawa Choral Society and Orchestre Metropolitain under Nicolas Ellis.
