Biography

Paolo Fantin studied at the Istituto Statale d’Arte di Venezia and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.

He has worked with Damiano Michieletto since 2007; opera set designs include Guillaume Tell, Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci (The Royal Opera), L’elisird’amore (La Monnaie, Brussels), Cendrillon (Komische Oper Berlin), Perocco’s Aquagranda, Mozart’s Da Ponte operas and The Magic Flute (La Fenice, Venice), Lucia di Lammermoor (Zürich), Il barbiere di Siviglia and Samson et Dalila (Paris Opéra), Il trittico (Royal Danish Opera, Theater an der Wien), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Theater an der Wien), Un ballo in maschera (La Scala, Milan), La donna del lago (Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro), Rigoletto (DNO), La Damnation de Faust (Valencia), Der ferne Klang (Frankfurt Opera), Die lustige Witwe (Rome Opera) and Alcina, La bohème, Falstaff and La Cenerentola (Salzburg Festival).

Theatre designs for Michieletto include The Government Inspector and Die Dreigroschenoper (Piccolo Teatro, Milan). Plans include Giulio Cesare in Egitto (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées) and Bernstein’s Mass (Terme di Caracalla, Rome).
