Biography

Missy Mazzoli is an established composer on the contemporary music scene and three-time Grammy-nominee. She has received considerable acclaim for her operas (including Breaking the Waves, Proving Up, The Listeners and Song from the Uproar), performed by Scottish Opera, Opera Comique, LA Opera, Opera Philadelphia, the Edinburgh Festival and Norwegian Opera among others. In 2018 she became, along with Jeanine Tesori, one of the first two women commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera. She was named ‘2022 Composer of the Year’ by Musical America, was Composer-in-Residence with the Chicago Symphony from 2018-2021, and serves as the co-founder and Artistic Director of Luna Composition Lab.
