Guido Menasci



Italian librettist Guido Menasci (1867–1925) is best known today as co-librettist on Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana.

Menasci was born in Livorno. He first worked with regular collaborator Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti on Cavalleria rusticana. Their other projects included Mascagni’s I Rantzau and Zanetto and Giordano’s Regina Diaz.

Menasci’s credits as sole librettist include Parma’s Stara pesem.
