Biography

ROH roles include Iago, Enrico Ashton, Count di Luna, Don Giovanni, Lescaut, Count Almaviva, Forester, Papageno, Guglielmo, Marcello and Ramiro (L’heure espagnole). Recent engagements elsewhere include Amfortas (Grand Théâtre de Genève), Oedipe (Salzburg Festival, Paris Opera), Rigoletto (Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Liceu, Barcelona), Mandryka, Ford, Eugene Onegin (Vienna), Count Tamare and Don Alfonso (Bavarian State Opera), Mark Rutland in Marnie, Papageno, Lescaut and Ford (Metropolitan Opera), Count di Luna (Washington National Opera), Don Giovanni (La Scala), Wozzeck (DNO), Montfort, Simon Boccanegra, Jochanaan and Don Carlo di Vargas (Frankfurt) and Count di Luna (Washington National Opera). Concert performances include appearances with the Berlin PO under Simon Rattle, LPO under Jurowski, New York PO under Masur, Los Angeles PO under Salonen and Cleveland Orchestra under Welser-Möst. He sang the title role in Kasper Holten’s 2010 film Juan. Plans include Iago (Bavarian State Opera), Scarpia (Berlin State Opera) and Leperello and Don Alfonso (Vienna State Opera).
