Biography

Moldovan baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky completed his studies in choral conducting at the Stefan Nyaga Musical College in Chișinău, later attending the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St Petersburg. He has appeared on stages worldwide, with notable recent engagements including La bohème for the Metropolitan Opera, a new production of Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery for Berlin State Opera, a return to Dresden Semperoper for Il viaggio a Reims and a new production of War and Peace for Bayerische Staatsoper. Additional highlights include Le coq d’Or for Opéra de Lyon and the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Dandini (La Cenerentola) for Dresden Semperoper, Così fan tutte for Washington National Opera, Il barbiere di Siviglia for Teatro Regio, Turin and Yeletsky (Queen of Spades) for Liceu, Barcelona. Concert performances include Iolanta with the Berlin Philharmonic. He made his Royal Opera debut in the 2022/23 Season as Marcello, a role he reprises for the 2023/24 season.
