As we head into the final few productions of 2015/16, Friends booking has opened for the Autumn Season. The programme features a wealth of exciting productions including The Royal Opera's Norma, Così fan tutte and The Nose as well as The Royal Ballet's Wayne McGregor Mixed Programme, Anastasia and Les Enfants Terribles.
As well as our usual array of productions at Covent Garden, both The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet will also perform at other venues during the 2016/17 Season, including at Wilton's Music Hall where the Opera Company will perform Handel's Oreste. The ticket allocation for this production is split between our Box Office and Wilton's Music Hall's. Consequently, some bookers may have experienced difficulty booking tickets this morning. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience called. More tickets will be available soon.
Back to this Season and The Royal Ballet have completed their Covent Garden programme and have departed for Japan where they will tour to five cities over the coming three weeks. Updates on the Tour's progress will be available via our News and Features section and social media presences.
Meanwhile, closer to home, performances of The Royal Opera's Nabucco continue. Last week, the production was relayed live to BP Big Screens in the UK and YouTube viewers around the world as far afield as Argentina, Malaysia and South Africa. It is available to watch on-demand for 30 days after broadcast:
Staying with The Royal Opera, the Company are continuing preparations for the return of Werther as well as a new production of Il trovatore. As I wrote last month, the cast for the latter is sure not to disappoint and the piece is one I would fully recommend experiencing. Gregory Kunde, who will be singing Manrico in Il trovatore will be appearing as a guest on BBC Breakfast live on 30 June.
For those coming to The Royal Opera House over the coming months, please do check the Open Up section of our website for details regarding changes that may affect your visit. The major change is that the Covent Garden Piazza entrance is now closed and all ticket holders should enter via the Main Entrance on Bow Street. We are working hard to minimize disruption but please do leave extra time to get to your seat, and remember to avoid bringing bulky items to the cloakroom.
I would particularly like to take the opportunity to thank all the new Friends who have joined us in the last two months. We are delighted that you have decided to support us and are looking forward to you being with us for what I'm sure will be some fantastic productions ahead.
I would also like to thank those who have recently upgraded their support. The support we receive from the members is invaluable and throughout the year you will see that a number of productions are directly supported by our Friends and Patrons.
As ever, the Friends team are always keen to hear your feedback so please email us firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on +44 (0) 20 7212 9268.
