Royal Opera House cast changes: Autumn 2019/20

Details of cast changes for performances by The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

Update: Cast changes can now be found by selecting 'see cast and dates' on any production page. Dates where cast changes have taken place are highlighted. In addition, principal changes will be communicated by email to bookers.

The Royal Opera

Death in Venice (21 November - 6 December 2019)

Following surgery in the middle of August to release a trapped nerve in his neck and under medical advice, Sir Mark Elder has very reluctantly decided to cancel his forthcoming engagement with The Royal Opera. The production of Death in Venice will now be conducted by English conductor Richard Farnes.

The Royal Ballet

Manon (12 October 2019)

Due to injury, Yasmine Naghdi is replaced by Yuhui Choe as Lescaut’s Mistress.

Concerto (22 and 26 October 2019)

Akane Takada is replaced by Anna Rose O’Sullivan for both performances.

Raymonda (22 October and 26 October)

Due to injury, Steven McRae is replaced by Vadim Muntagirov as Jean de Brienne.

Manon (6 November 2019)

Due to injury, Steven McRae is replaced by Alexander Campbell as Des Grieux.

The Sleeping Beauty (11 November, 15 November and 23 November 2019)

Due to injury, Steven McRae is replaced by Ryoichi Hirano as Prince Florimund for these three dates.

On 15 November, due to injury, Akane Takada is replaced by Fumi Kaneko as Princess Aurora

On 11 November, due to injury, Ryoichi Hirano is replaced in turn by Alexander Campbell as Prince Florimund.
On 15 November, due to injury, Ryoichi Hirano is replaced in turn by Reece Clarke as Prince Florimund.

The Sleeping Beauty (19 November 2019)

Due to illness, Francesca Hayward is replaced by Yasmine Naghdi as Princess Aurora.

In addition, in Act I, Kevin Emerton is replaced by Tomas Mock as The Russian Prince and in Act II Bennet Gartside is replaced by Erico Montes as Gallison.

Concerto Mixed Programme (18 December 2019)

Beatriz Stix-Brunell is replaced by Isabella Gasparini, and Tierney Heap is replaced by Claire Calvert in Concerto in the matinee performance.

Akane Takada is replaced by Anna Rose O’Sullivan in Concerto in the evening performance.

Concerto Mixed Programme (20 December 2019)

Beatriz Stix-Brunell is replaced by Isabella Gasparini, and Tierney Heap is replaced by Fumi Kaneko in Concerto in the matinee performance. Also in the matinee, Yasmine Naghdi is replaced by Meaghan Grace Hinkis as Dorabella in Enigma Variations

Akane Takada is replaced by Anna Rose O’Sullivan in Concerto in the evening performance
