Audience Labs

Welcome to Audience Labs at the Royal Opera House

Audience Labs reimagines, prototypes and presents opera and ballet in new digital forms. We bring together pioneering artists and technology to seek out new audiences and share culture in new spaces and in new ways.

Led by artistic exploration we work with many technologies, from hyper-reality to cutting-edge acoustic equipment, games and VR. We create new work for audiences everywhere. You might see our projects at a festival, a museum, a shopping centre, in a nightclub or on your phone. We are building on the remarkable history and tradition of the Royal Opera House, using innovative technologies to tell powerful, timeless stories in new ways. We will share insights into our work, mentor creatives and contribute to a growing artistic understanding of technology and its possibilities.

We are all living in unimaginable times and looking for ways to connect to each other and the world. Audience Labs is exploring how technology can offer a new kind of stage at a time our physical stages are closed.

To stay in touch and find out more about our explorations as they unfold, sign up here.
