Amphitheatre Restaurant and Terrace

With walls hung with images from iconic Royal Opera House productions, the Amphitheatre Restaurant is a smart and elegant venue.  The à la carte menu changes regularly and includes weekly seasonal specials.  Our Head Chef is inspired by classic British and European dishes, and his menu is full of rich, seasonal flavours.  During the warmer months, the Amphitheatre Terrace also provides a lovely outdoor space, perfect for enjoying the elegant view onto Covent Garden Piazza.

In the evenings, the Amphitheatre Restaurant is open exclusively to ticket-holders for the evening’s performance at the Royal Opera House. Your table will be available roughly two hours before the curtain goes up (from 5:30pm for most performances) and held for you throughout the night so that you and your guests can enjoy the very best that the Royal Opera House has to offer, both on and off stage.  For younger members of the audience, a special Children’s Menu is also available.

To make a reservation, simply telephone +44 (0)20 7212 9254.

Please note: The Amphitheatre Restaurant is closed at lunchtime, however the Amphitheatre Bar remains open for meals, drinks and snacks throughout the day. The frequently-changing bar menu features a range of light meals such as butternut squash tart; salad of Rosary goat’s cheese, beetroot and lentils; and salt-baked sweet potatoes with crème fraîche, chilli and coriander. The Amphitheatre Restaurant will be open to ticket-holders during matinee performances as usual.

For those wanting a more elegant daytime occasion in which to enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the Royal Opera House, we are now taking bookings for Tea at the Royal Opera House, an afternoon treat in the beautiful surroundings of the Paul Hamlyn Hall. Book your tickets now.

Amphitheatre Terrace

Sharing the menu of our Amphitheatre Restaurant, the Amphitheatre Terrace is perfect for pre-performance and interval dining at opera and ballet performances during the summer months. There are also outdoor heaters to counter the occasional chill in the air.  From 19 May until the end of the Season, it is open to both theatre-goers and the general public for lunch and afternoon tea, and for ticket-holders only in the evenings.
