Family Sundays are a regular event for families to come and explore the Royal Opera House, its artists and the world of opera and ballet. Each Family Sunday will be packed with creative and practical activities for all the family, with space to relax and enjoy live music in an informal setting. Each event is different, with activities including:
Free guided tours run at specific times throughout the day, inviting you and your family to explore some hidden areas of the Royal Opera House. These tours can be booked in advance through the Event + Tour ticket option, subject to availability. If you also book a guided tour please be at the meeting point before the tour starts, as latecomers may not be able to join the tour.
Please note: Suitable for all, but activities are designed for families with children aged three to ten in mind. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Step-free access is via the Bow Street entrance. There is also step-free access to all restaurants, bars, and front of house areas. The ground floor café is open from 10am every day, bars throughout the day, and our restaurants from 90 minutes before curtain up. All our restaurants have step-free access via one of our lifts, however, it is worth being aware of the following:
The lift on the left-hand side of the Main Stage auditorium provides access to the café, Linbury Theatre, Paul Hamlyn Hall, Balcony Restaurant and Crush Room.
The lift on the right-hand side of the Main Stage auditorium provides access to the café, Level 5 Bar, the Piazza Restaurant and Terrace Bar and the Crush Room.
