Background

World-renowned ballerina Alessandra Ferri returns to the Royal Opera House to perform an innovative programme with American Ballet Theater Principal dancer Herman Cornejo and acclaimed pianist Bruce Levingston. The evening features specially commissioned choreography by Russell Maliphant, Demis Volpi, Fang-Yi Sheu, Herman Cornejo and Wayne McGregor as well as dance devised by Angelin Preljocaj. The music includes Ligeti, Mozart, Satie, J.S. Bach (trans. Kurtag) and Philip Glass.

This programme explores the intimate connection between music and dance, and silence and stillness, so succinctly expressed by the words of choreographer George Balanchine: ‘See the music, hear the dance.’
