Opera Makers

Students of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama present three exciting new operas.

Most recent performance

There are currently no scheduled performances of Opera Makers. It was last on stage 16 January 2016 as part of the Winter 2015/16 season.

Background

Opera Makers brings together three new works by young composers and librettists studying on the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s MA in Opera Making and Writing. This innovative new programme – delivered in association with the Royal Opera House – enables writers and composers to focus on how new opera is created, developed and performed. Singers studying on the Guildhall’s Opera Course perform the operas, which had their world premieres at the Guildhall in July 2015.

The three operas on this year’s programme are:
Narkissus and the Reflektions by Laurence Osborn and Ruth Mariner
Greenland by Evan Kassof and Aleks Hut-Kono
Isabella by Oliver Christophe Leith and Rebecca Hurst
