Biography

Born in Bilbao, Atxalandabaso studied singing there, and made his professional debut at Teatro Real, Madrid in 2007. He sings regularly for Teatro Real, Madrid where roles include Bardolfo, Mime, Remendado (Carmen) Heurtebise (Orphée) and Monostratos. Roles elsewhere include Hauptmann (Wozzeck), Steersman (Der fliegende Holländer), Edmondo (Manon Lescaut) and Pong (Turandot) for Liceu, Barcelona; Jaquino, Narraboth and Beppe for ABAO, Bilbao; Spoletta (Tosca) for Salzburg Festival;Hauptmann for Opéra de Monte Carlo; Spoletta and Ruodi (Guillaume Tell) for Dutch National Opera; Sebas (Der König Kandaules) and Monostatos in Seville; Der Zwerg in Tenerife; Bardolfo and Steersman in La Coruña; Jonas (Le Prophète) and Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro) for Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse; Pong for the Teatro Regio, Turin; Maese Pedro (El Retablo de Maese Pedro) for La Monnaie, Brussels; and Goro (Madama Butterfly) for Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
