Krzysztof Baczyk



Polish bass Krzysztof Baczyk makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2019/20 Season as Colline (La bohème).

Baczyk began his musical training as a member of the Poznan Boys‘ Choir, and went on to study at the Poznan Academy of Music, graduating in 2014. He went on to further studies at the Opera Academy of Grand Theatre in Poznan, on the Young Artists Programme at Polish National Opera in Warsaw and at the opera workshop of the Academy d‘Aix-en-Provence. Selected opera appearances include Colline, Masetto (Don Giovanni), Raimondo Bidebent (Lucia di Lammermoor), Melisso (Alcina) and Capellio (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) for Zürich Opera, Cesare Angelotti (Tosca), Monk (Don Carlo), King René (Iolanta) and Priest/Guard (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) for Paris Opéra, Inquisitor (The Fiery Angel) for Aix-en-Provence Festival and Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Angelotti, Zuniga (Carmen) and King of Egypt (Aida) for Arena di Verona, Colline in Bilbao and Cagliari, Masetto for Aix-en-Provence Festival, Pimen (Boris Godunov) for Teatr Wielki in Poznan and Sarastro and Speaker of the Temple (Die Zauberflöte) for Polish National Opera.

Baczyk’s concert appearances include Polyphemus in Acis and Galatea in Salzburg under Minkowski, a concert with NDF Philharmonie Hannover and Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
