Kiera Lyness



British soprano Kiera Lyness is a member of the Royal Opera Chorus, which she joined in 2006. Her solo roles with The Royal Opera have included La Charmeuse (Thaïs), Coryphée (Iphigénie en Tauride), Milliner (Der Rosenkavalier), Elisabeth’s attendant (Tannhäuser), Meat Rack Girl (Anna Nicole, world premiere), Aunt (Madama Butterfly) and Nun (Suor Angelica), and she has covered Despinio (Greek Passion), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Poussette (Manon) and Flowermaiden (Parsifal) for the Company. She is a member of the Royal Opera House’s vocal ensemble Hous8.

Before joining the Royal Opera Chorus Lyness sang with D’Oyly Carte and for the BBC Singers and London Voices. She is a member of the Holywell Ensemble (piano trio/quartet and voice), which specializes in the performance of English music and has recorded several CDs. She has a wide experience of opera, oratorio, recital and ensemble work.

Opera engagements away from The Royal Opera have included Pamina, Despina (Così fan tutte), Gretel, Serpina (Serva padrona), Miss Silver Peal (The Impresario), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) and Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for Opera Project.
