Biography

Born in New York, Charles Castronovo participated in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. For The Royal Opera he has sung Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alfredo Germont, Ruggero Lastouc (La rondine), Rodolfo (La bohème), Tom Rakewell, Tamino, Ferrando and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni). Recent engagements include Pinkerton, Edgardo, Rodolfo, Carlo (I masnadieri), Admète (Alceste), Alfredo Germont and Roberto Devereux for Bavarian State Opera; Rodolfo (Luisa Miller) for Glyndebourne Festival; Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) for Salzburg Festival; Don Carlo (Bucharest); La damantion de Faust (Salzburg, Baden-Baden, Berlin); L’amico Fritz (Florence); Rodolfo (La bohème) and Roméo (Metropolitan Opera); Ruggero Lastouc, Gounod’s Faust and Don José (Deutsche Oper Berlin); Lensky and Nemorino (Lyric Opera of Chicago); Hoffmann (Baden-Baden concert) and Verdi’s Requiem (Festival Castell de Peralada, Paris, Nice, Dresden, Dallas). Plans include Un ballo in maschera, I masnadieri and Don Carlo (Munich), Carmen (Chicago), La damnation de Faust (Naples), Madama Butterfly and Manon (Vienna) and La bohème (Metropolitan Opera).
