Baritone

Biography

A native of Poland, Filończyk studied at the Academy of Music in Wrocław. He was a member of Polish National Opera’s Young Talents Programme and the International Opera Studio in Zurich, and participated in the 2016 Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project. In 2017 he returned to Salzburg Festival for Gubetta (Lucrezia Borgia). His recent opera appearances include Sharpless (Rome Opera), Silvio in Pagliacci and Marcello in La bohème (The Royal Opera), Rossini’s Figaro (Bolshoi, Paris Opera), Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Frank/Fritz in Die tote Stadt (Bayerische Staatsoper). Future engagements include Belcore (Chorégies d’Orange Festival), Raimbaud (Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro) and Figaro (Paris). Awards include First Prize at the Ninth International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition.
