The winners of the National Dance Awards 2017 have been announced, with Royal Ballet dancers winning in two categories.
Former Principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsky won Best Female Dancer in recognition of her 23 years with The Royal Ballet. Zenaida retired from the Company last year but will return to dance in Elizabeth at the Barbican in May 2018.
Also recognized was First Soloist Marcelino Sambé who won the award for Outstanding Classical Performance, Male in recognition of his portrayal of Colas in The Royal Ballet’s production of La Fille mal gardée. He will make his role debut as Lescaut in Manon in April.
Other winners this year included Liam Riddick (Best Male Dancer), the musical 42nd Street (Outstanding Company) and Akram Khan's Giselle (Best Classical Choreography).
