John Fulljames and Hofesh Shechter's Royal Opera production of Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice is currently wowing critics and audiences alike at Covent Garden and to celebrate we've uploaded a selection of our highlights to our YouTube channel.

The new unique and innovative production sees acclaimed tenor Juan Diego Flórez make his stage role debut with John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists, the Monteverdi Choir and Hofesh Shechter Company. Judging by these clips, the excited pre-opening night anticipation was entirely justified:

    I love ROH #YouTubeTreats

  2. Just back from this stunning performance - you must put this out on disc its wonderful and I'd definitely buy it.
    Flores has never been better.
    Loved the dancing.
    More Gluck soon please.

  3. Dear ROH,
Many thanks for this... only make us want the entire performance on DVD more. However, if you cannot give us the whole things, can you at least put "l'espoir renait dans mon ame" on your channel?? We will LIKE you, we promise!!

  4. A marvellous evening although too much dance for me but as that's part of the Paris version so be it. I was in a cloud of bliss and just shut my eyes during the dancing.

  5. Superb performance. Put me on the list for a DVD! Could watch again and again, and I want to show my 5yo all the dancing!

  6. The acting , singing and music had me entranced from the very moment the curtain went up. Wish I could say the same about the dancing. Modern is o.k. if it has power and elegance and skill. The choreography was disjointed and disppointing.

Thank you for a wonderful evening. Juan Diego Florez ,Amanda Forsythe and Lucy Crowe were outstanding. The choir and chorus pieces a revelation. The orchestra - especially the soloists- outstanding and the dancers ( despite a few reservations about some of the choreography )amazing. I worried that,at certain times ,the orchestra was overpowering Orpheus but an entrancing uplifting evening.

  9. Dear Sirs, since I had not the opportunity to watch this fantastic "mise en scène", would you please be so kind to put it on dvd also for us?
    Thanking you so much.
    Kind regards
