Inside the world of the ROH Student Ambassador

Ambassadors at a growing number of universities around the UK are flagging great deals for students and raising the profile of opera and ballet.

For a couple of years now, the Royal Opera House has worked with Student Ambassadors such as myself to reach out and connect with those at universities and colleges around the UK. Like the rest of the student body, we're undergrads and post-grads, locals and internationals, long-time aficionados and new fans alike. What binds us together is that we’re students who have a real passion for the amazing opera and ballet experiences that the Royal Opera House provides.

Our main task is to promote the ROH Student Scheme, which offers over 10,000 dedicated Student tickets per Season, at substantially discounted prices. We organize ROH-related events on our individual university campuses; from production screenings in university buildings, to trips to local cinemas to see live cinema relays from Covent Garden. We're also keen to collaborate with dance, music and theatre organizations and societies at universities up and down the country. In essence, we're a one-stop-shop for information on everything the ROH does for students.

If you're a student yourself, finding out more is easy. First of all, simply sign up to the ROH Student Scheme to ensure that you receive student offers by email. Next, find the ROH Student Ambassador at your university - most of us have Ambassador Facebook pages and Twitter accounts where we post the latest ROH information and deals, as well as events specific to our own university. Finally, do get in contact with us to offer your thoughts, ideas and options. We're always on the look out for extra people, whether that's to help with upcoming events, or simply to discuss and share a passion for opera, classical music, ballet, and dance.

If you don't yet have an Ambassador at your university, reach out to any one of us and we'll be more than happy to help add your university to the growing list of UK institutions connected with the ROH.

ROH Students is generously made possible by the Bunting Family and Simon Robey.

Hello, I am a Ealing, Hammersmith and West London collage student and I'm interest in joining the young ambassadors scheme. Is this possible considering I'm not a university student?

      Hi Maya,

We're looking into opening this to college students as well as university students. Watch this space!

I'm studying at The University of Edinburgh and I'd love to become an ROH Student Ambassador but I can't find the ROH Student Ambassador to the university. Could you help me get in touch with him/her? If there is no ROH Student Ambassador to the University of Edinburgh, could you help me connect the university to the Royal Opera House?
    Thanks you so much!

      Hi Rebecca,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
We don't currently have an Ambassador in Edinburgh, but please keep an eye on your inbox because we'll be recruiting in the summer for the year ahead. In the meantime, you can like the ROH Facebook page to get further updates and reach out to other Ambassadors in universities across the UK.
      Hope that helps.
      All best wishes,
