Update: In an addition to the earlier cast change, Sophie Bevan will also perform the same role for the performance on 9 October 2015.

Due to illness, Romanian soprano Anita Hartig has withdrawn from singing the role of Susanna for the performances of Le nozze di Figaro on 5 and 9 October. The role will now be sung by British soprano Sophie Bevan.

Sophie Bevan made her Royal Opera debut in September 2012 as Woodbird in Siegfried, and has since returned to sing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Ilia in Idomeneo for the Company. She has previously sung the role of Susanna for Garsington Opera and in the Schools’ Matinee on 23 September for The Royal Opera. She will also sing the role for The Royal Opera on 7 and 14 October, as originally scheduled.

The rest of the cast remains unchanged.

I will be watching the performance in a cinema in Vienna, sorry about Ms Hartig falling ill, it will be a great performance with Bevan as well. I am somewhat relieved that not only the Vienna opera suffers from a constant string of cast changes due to illness, it happens to other opera houses as well, I had the feeling that Vienna was somewhat singled out of performers opting out.

Watched tonight's Marriage of Figaro tonight in Wimbledon. I was thrilled to hear that Sophie Bevan would be singing and thoroughly enjoyed the performance, despite the glitches. Thank you ROH. KEEP FILMING!

The most wonderful production! Just right balance between farce and deep dramatic feeling. Well done Sophie!
Great evening despite subtitles glitch at beginning and loss of visuals about 4mins before the end!! Must see it again to catch up! Dunfermline, Scotland.

What a marvellously thrilling evening. Bravo to Sophie Bevan, she the female leads really excelled in this fast-moving production. I was glad of the sub titles, in French, as we were watching at the CIV Valbonne, South of France. Thank you!
