With the weather finally warming up, the Royal Opera House stage has said a fond farewell to the dancers of The Royal Ballet as they decamp to Australia for the Company's annual tour and, following that, a well-deserved summer break.

But for those of us who can't imagine a summer without dance, Instagram sensation The Ballerina Project has been documenting a selection of stunning photographs of members of the Company, bringing their beauty and poise to unusual and unexpected locations around London.

Here's a selection of our favourites:

Principal dancer Francesca Hayward in East London:

Guest Artist Iana Salenko in The Royal Ballet's rehearsal studios

Francesca Hayward in Trafalgar Square

Soloist Olivia Cowley on the roof of the Royal Opera House

Francesca Hayward in a Central London side street

Iana Salenko on The Mall

Francesca Hayward at Shoreditch High Street Overground station

So beautiful - the strength, the control, the only has to try it to understand what it takes!

    No men?

      Hi Bob,

In this case, no, there are no men - this project is called The Ballerina Project and as such only photographs female dancers, but of course we will ensure our male dancers get their turn in the spotlight too.

      Many thanks for your comment.

So... when are the promotions for the next season going to be announced? I've been anxiously waiting for more than a month! Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that it's been way longer than the past few announcements. Or is no one going to be promoted...?

Love this! Beauty, strength, purity in the city. Dance should be for everyone to enjoy, not just those who can afford the ticket prices of elite theatres.

Couldn't believe my eyes!..Saw the first picture and had to keep looking...they are SO beautiful?...The pictures show the beauty...grace and discipline of these dancers in such interesting locations and the every day quality of the venues chosen just emphasises these?...Such a brilliant idea.

These photos are stunning, I adore ballet and try to visit when I can. I enjoy looking through the website and appreciate all the hard work that goes into it.
