This event is part of the Winter 2018/19 season.
Head of The Royal Opera Staff Directors Amy Lane presents this screening of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, an opera that features one of the most fascinating and elusive title roles. The sublime score includes lyrical arias for Giovanni’s female victims, witty numbers for his sidekick Leporello and a spine-chilling final scene as Giovanni’s past finally catches up with him. Kasper Holten’s production uses thrilling video designs to reflect Don Giovanni’s creative and seductive energy and capture the characters’ emotions. This 2014 screening (relayed live to cinemas on 12 February 2014, when the production was new) features Mariusz Kwiecien as a particularly charismatic Don Giovanni, and Alex Esposito on gloriously comic form as Leporello; other cast members include star sopranos Malin Byström and Véronique Gens as Donna Anna and Donna Elvira.
The performance lasts about 3 hours 30 minutes, including one interval
Sung in Italian with English subtitles
