Cinema Festival: The Winter'sTale: Sunday 23 December 2018, 4pm at Linbury Theatre

Cinema Festival

From 3 December 2018 to 7 January 2019 we celebrate ten years of the Royal Opera House Live Cinema Season with screenings of great operas and ballets.

Linbury Theatre

Royal Opera House, Bow Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9DD

This event is part of the Winter 2018/19 season.

This screening is a chance to see a masterful, modern narrative ballet danced by the original cast, and presented by Principal of The Royal Ballet Edward Watson. Christopher Wheeldon created The Winter’s Tale, based on Shakespeare’s tale of love and loss, for The Royal Ballet in 2014. The cast it was made on, led by Lauren Cuthbertson and Edward Watson, dance in this performance, which was broadcast live to cinemas on 28 April 2014. Alongside powerful designs by Bob Crowley and atmospheric music by Joby Talbot, Wheeldon’s distinctive choreography creates an enthralling world of love, jealousy and remorse – with an innovative staging of Shakespeare’s most famous stage direction, ‘Exit, pursued by a bear’.
