From 3 December 2018 to 7 January 2019 we celebrate ten years of the Royal Opera House Live Cinema Season with screenings of great operas and ballets.
Royal Opera House, Bow Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9DD
This event is part of the Winter 2018/19 season.
Former Director of The Royal Ballet Monica Mason presents this screening of Giselle, starring Natalia Osipova and former Royal Ballet Principal Carlos Acosta. This screening, originally broadcast live to cinemas on 27 January 2014, offers the rare chance to see this extraordinary partnership in one of the greatest Romantic ballets. The rustic setting of Act I contrasts with the famous second act of the ballet, which transports the audience to an eerie moonlit forest haunted by the ethereal Wilis in a stunning showcase for the corps de ballet. With its tragic story and exquisite choreography, Giselle is the perfect way to discover classical ballet.
