Cinema Festival: La Fille mal gardée: Saturday 8 December 2018, 2pm at Linbury Theatre

Cinema Festival

From 3 December 2018 to 7 January 2019 we celebrate ten years of the Royal Opera House Live Cinema Season with screenings of great operas and ballets.

Venue

Linbury Theatre

Royal Opera House, Bow Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9DD

Season

This event is part of the Winter 2018/19 season.

Background

Presented by Principal Character Artist Philip Mosley, this screening of Frederick Ashton’s joyful ballet La Fille mal gardée (The Wayward Daughter) features some of his most brilliant choreography. The Royal Ballet’s performance of this delightful romantic comedy, starring Natalia Osipova as Lise and Steven McRae as Colas, was broadcast live to cinemas on 5 May 2015. Audiences now have another chance to see this lively partnership in two of the sunniest roles in Company repertory. Featuring dancing chickens, a spirited heroine and a picnic gone awry, this ballet has been a firm favourite since it was choreographed for The Royal Ballet in 1960.
