Background

What a Christmas treat for the whole family! Peter Wright’s production of The Nutcracker has been charming audiences since it was first performed in 1984. In this special performance, streamed live from the Royal Opera House main stage, Marianela Nuñez dances the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy with Vadim Muntagirov as her Prince. Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous, tuneful score provides a backdrop for the opulent period setting of the Act I Christmas party, and Act II’s magical Kingdom of Sweets.
