Season

This event is part of the Winter 2018/19 season.

Background

Principal Character Artist Kristen McNally presents this screening of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, one of the best-loved productions in The Royal Ballet’s repertory. In this performance, first broadcast in the 2011/12 Season, Lauren Cuthbertson and Federico Bonelli take on the roles of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers. Ensemble scenes in bustling Renaissance Verona and the striking setting of the Capulet ball root the characters in the chaos of their families’ feud, and contrast the passionate pas de deux that drive the story towards its tragic end. MacMillan’s interpretation of the greatest love story ever told is The Royal Ballet at its exhilarating, dramatic finest.
