Auditions for the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the uncertainty around what kind of programme we could offer as a result, we are not recruiting new artists to join us in 2021/22.

We remain committed to current artists and recent leavers whose programmes have been disrupted.

Singers and stage directors who had been hoping to audition and wish to connect with the Programme should register their interest via this online form.

Women Conductors

The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme offers training opportunities for emerging women conductors in opera and ballet.  LockDown/SkillUp in spring/summer 2020 offered many alumni from previous courses the chance to study repertory and hone the communication of their musical ideas with online tuition from Sian Edwards and Jessica Cottis.

The next course is tentatively planned for early November 2020 and will be designed to support alumni of previous courses.

If you would like to know about future opportunities for women conductors, please complete this online form.

Diverse Directors

The Royal Opera is committed to storytelling excellence.  The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme continues to work with a large cohort of stage directors to help them transfer their skills from theatre to opera and navigate the specific challenges of the artform.

With the current curtailment of live performances we remain committed to the development of those we are already engaged with, but have no new training or observership opportunities to offer at the present time.

If you would like to know about future opportunities for directors, please complete this online form.

Women Opera Makers

Applications for this course have now closed.

Online Women’s Empowerment Course led by Katie Mitchell, Monday 7–Friday 11 December 2020, 10am–5pm

This course is an opportunity for women working in opera as conductors, directors, composers and librettists to examine the contexts in which they work and hone strategies to forge a successful career. The week will look at a wide range of topics from the political to the more personal. Legal frameworks, cultural contexts and pay structures will be explored alongside rigorous self-assessments, business planning, and the management of professional narratives.
