Work Experience
A number of departments provide short work experience placements for adults and young people.
As you may imagine, we get many more applications for work experience than we have placements. However, if you have an interest in opera or ballet, and especially if you have some relevant experience, we would welcome your application.
If you'd like experience in our Admin departments:
• You should have an interest in ballet or opera with a view to working in arts administration.
• Some experience in an office environment is preferred but not essential.
If you'd like experience in Technical or Production departments:
• Due to health and safety regulations, you must be over 18 to apply for these placements.
• You must have previous experience of working in a theatre environment.
• You will probably be studying theatre practice at University or College level, or be a recent graduate.
The small print:
• We need at least one month's notice to arrange a work placement.
• All work placement opportunities are unpaid, and unfortunately we are also unable to cover travel or living expenses.
• The Royal Opera House is unable to offer artistic placements or placements shadowing artists.
• Opportunities are strictly limited, and may be subject to a competitive selection process.
