Derby, Market Place
A city that literally changed the world - Derby was the birthplace of the industrial revolution, and has a rich industrial and cultural heritage. In today’s Derby, we share the best of both worlds, a vibrant, contemporary yet traditional city scene, complemented by the glorious surrounding countryside of Derbyshire and the Peak District. Derby is no stranger to cultural events, as the city already hosts the Darley Park Concert, the biggest free classical music concert in the country.
Derby and its surrounding area have a thriving and varied arts community, and a wealth of professional and community-based talent ensures that there is a host of events and performances throughout the year. The screening of Carmen from the Royal Opera House is a welcome addition to this programme, and screenings such as this will no doubt become a highlight of the city’s events calendar in years to come.
