About BP Summer Big Screens

BP has supported the Big Screen live relays of opera and ballet performances direct from Covent Garden since 2000. The generous ongoing support of BP has allowed the Royal Opera House to reach as many people as possible around the country with live performances, enabling them to experience the very best of opera and ballet in their home town for free.  The Royal Opera House has screened performances in the Covent Garden Piazza since 1987. BP’s relationship with the Royal Opera House began in 1988 with their sponsorship of a variety of educational and outreach initiatives including BP Behind the Scenes Week and BP Schools’ Matinees.

BP recognizes the role that arts and culture play in the economic and social fabric of the country.  BP maintains a focus on excellence and its arts programme includes support for some of the UK's most outstanding cultural institutions including the Royal Opera House.  As well as support for the ROH, BP has a series of longstanding partnerships with a small number of leading arts institutions including the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain.
