A purpose-built, state-of-the-art theatre craft workshop based in Purfleet, Thurrock.
The Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop is a state-of-the-art workshop for scenic painters, carpenters and metalworkers. It opened in 2010 in the 14-acre site of High House Production Park in Purfleet, the UK’s first ever national centre of excellence for technical skills, crafts and production for the performing arts and live music industries. The highly skilled workers based there build the scenery for the Royal Opera House and for other performing arts companies around the world.
The Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop plays a crucial role in the work of the Royal Opera House’s Learning and Participation department, and offers apprenticeships, work experience placements and opportunities for local residents to participate in a variety of projects. Visitors can explore the workshop on Inspiration Days, which provide an in-depth look at the highly skilled work that goes on behind the scenes, or on guided public tours of the complex. The High House Production Park is a unique partnership between Arts Council England, Creative & Cultural Skills, the Royal Opera House and Thurrock Council.
