Description
At a time when Verismo operas were hugely popular, the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák turned to the world of fairytales for his penultimate opera. Rusalka was met with great success, and today the opera is as popular with Czech audiences as Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel is in Germany. With Renée Fleming in the title role of Rusalka, this production is a rare and outstanding document of Dvorák's masterpiece, in a powerful, modern staging by Robert Carsen.
