Eye catching christmas decoration produced by St Nicolas, inspired by the tutu worn by Margot Fonteyn as The Firebird in the Sadler's Wells Ballet production of The Firebird (1954) originally designed by Natalia Goncharova.
Each decoration is hand made and beaded by a family run business in India using a traditional embroidery method called zardozi. Zari-embroidery originated in Persia and reached India in the 12th Century. Traditionally using gold wires to decorate courtly robes and heraldic emblems, the highly skilled technique means ‘sewing with gold.
Exclusively made for the Royal Opera House.
