Description

Charming decoration produced by St Nicolas, inspired by the tutu worn by Nadia Nerina as Cinderella in Act III of the Sadler's Wells Ballet production of 'Cinderella' (1948)

Exclusively made for the Royal Opera House.

Each decoration is hand made and beaded by a family run business in India using a traditional embroidery method called zardozi. Zari-embroidery originated in Persia and reached India in the 12th Century. Traditionally using gold wires to decorate courtly robes and heraldic emblems, the highly skilled technique means ‘sewing with gold.

Full length: 18 cms

Ball size: 8 x 10 cms

St.Nicolas has been supporting the same family‐run business in Northern India for 14 years, and this long term relationship means that they can supply unique handmade designs at competitive prices, without compromising the welfare of their artisans.
