The Northern School of Contemporary Dance presents its annual post-graduate performance.
When to see it
The 12 dancers of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance post-graduate course perform four specially commissioned works, from Lea Anderson, Gemma Nixon and Jonathan Goddard, Ben Duke of Lost Dog and Jamaal Burkmar.
Each year the 12 talented young dancers in Verve present a thrilling medley of current contemporary dance. The students work with choreographers over the year, developing four works that are truly collaborative, fresh and unique. The result is an eclectic mixed bill that reflects where contemporary dance is and where it could go.
This year includes works by Lea Anderson – a quirky and passionate work for all 12 dancers – and former Ballet Rambert dancers Gemma Nixon and Jonathan Goddard, creating their first work for Verve. Ben Duke, co-founder of The Place Prize-winning company Lost Dog, brings his customary invention and narrative intensity in his work with the dancers. And for the first time Verve includes a piece from a current NSCD student, rising star Jamaal Burkmar, who's Ocean is set to John Butler's immersive track of the same name.
