The Mad Hatter's Tea Party

6 December 2014—3 January 2015
Linbury Studio Theatre

ZooNation burst onto the stage with their family Christmas show, a wonderfully wacky take on the madcap characters of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

When to see it

The Story

Young psychotherapist Ernest has just started his first job, at the Institution for Extremely Normal Behaviour. He's assigned to the patients in West Wing Ward W – all of whom claim to come from a place called Wonderland. Ernest disrupts the ward's never-ending tea party to insist on a 'T for Therapy’ party, which no one may leave until they're all properly normal.

But slowly and surely, as the tea party goes on, Ernest seems to become more and more like the inmates he is meant to be treating.

Background

ZooNation creates irresistible narrative hip hop dance theatre and has won nationwide acclaim with its hugely popular shows, including Into the Hoods and Some Like it Hip Hop. Playfully drawing on everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim, Artistic Director Kate Prince and her company present brilliantly exuberant dance adventures overflowing with energy and wit.

Their new family Christmas show, The Mad Hatter's Tea Party, taps into the heady nonsense of Lewis Carroll's much-loved world in an interactive show perfect for all the family. ZooNation brings together regular collaborators Ben Stones, with his innovative set designs, and the musical team Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.
