The Elves and the Shoemaker is based on the Grimm Brothers' fairytale. A kind-hearted but poor shoemaker is on the brink of ruin. One morning he finds his last piece of leather has been made into beautiful shoes overnight.
He and his wife stay up and see elves hard at work making shoes. The shoemaker and his wife make clothes for the elves as a gift. The elves take the clothes and disappear.

Northern Ballet is one of the UK's top touring companies. Their series Short Ballets for Small People has quickly won acclaim for its entertaining fusion of enchanting storytelling with breathtaking dance. The first in the series, Ugly Duckling, was adapted for television for BBC CBeebies and went on to win a Children's BAFTA.
The Elves and the Shoemaker is the third in the series, after Three Little Pigs and The Ugly Duckling. It is the ideal way to introduce little ones to the magic of live ballet, music and theatre.
