Stage Notes

An opportunity for emerging artists and producers to hear from leading industry figures from the world of opera – part of Sound and Music’s Sounding Out series.

Background

Sound and Music and the Royal Opera House present Stage Notes – a unique professional development opportunity for composers, librettists, artists and producers at an early stage in their career, who are interested in creatingdramatic work.

Through a half-day of talks, panel discussions and Q&As,composers, directors and artists will explore diverse approaches to opera. Participants will include: composers Judith Weir, Jennifer Walshe and Huw Watkins; writers David Harsent and Martin Crimp; Associate Director of the Royal Opera House John Fulljames; Chief Executive of Aldeburgh Music Jonathan Reekie; and ArtisticDirector of Northern Ireland Opera Oliver Mears.

Sound and Music's Sounding Out series is a rolling programme of panel discussions and presentations providing insights into professional practice across new music and sound. Away from the stage, it also provides an informal networking opportunity for artists and producers to start developing new ideas inspired by the events.
