Composer and sound artist Yair Elazar Glotman makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as the soundtrack designer for Na’ama Zisser’s new opera Mamzer Bastard.
Glotman trained as a classical double bass player and later studied art, media and electroacoustic composition. His work combines classical knowledge with experimentation of form, repetition, and textures. He works in a variety of mediums including composition, sound art and sound installations, as well as composition for film, theater, dance and radio. He has performed at venues and music festivals around the world including ZKM Centre for Art and Media, Maerz Musik, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Volksbuehne, CTM, Donau Festival and Atonal.
Glotman has released under his own name as well as KETEV and various collaborations. His albums include Compound, Negative Chambers, Blessed Initiative, I Know No Weekend, Traces of Weakness, Singular Stare and Études. He lives and works in Berlin.
