Welsh tenor Wynne Evans made his Royal Opera debut in 2009 as Vakula (The Tsarina’s Slippers, one performance) and has since sung Mayor of Mexia (Anna Nicole, world premiere) and Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) for The Royal Opera.

Evans was born in South Wales and trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio. He is a former principal for Welsh National Opera, with which company his roles have included Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La bohème), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), and Alfred (Die Fledermaus). Engagements elsewhere include Alfredo and Cavaradossi (Tosca) for English National Opera, Prunier (La rondine) for Opera North, Tamino for Scottish Opera, Schoolmaster/Mosquito (The Cunning Little Vixen), Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi) and Tinca (Il tabarro) for Opéra de Lyon and Schoolmaster/Mosquito, Truffaldino (L’Amour des trois oranges) and Tchekalinsky (The Queen of Spades) for Grange Park Opera.

Evans presents on both BBC Radio Wales and on Classic FM. In 2010 he signed a six-album deal with Warner Music, and has released two highly acclaimed albums, With a Song in My Heart (2011) and Wynne (2013). He is known to millions for playing Gio Compario in the advertising campaign of gocompare.com.
