Welsh tenor Wynne Evans sings Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) for The Royal Opera in the 2013/14 Season. Evans made his Royal Opera debut as Vakula in one performance of The Tsarina’s Slippers in November 2009. He has since sung Mayor of Mexia (Anna Nicole) for The Royal Opera.

Evans was born in South Wales and studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio. He is a former Principal Tenor for Welsh National Opera, for which company he has sung roles including Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), Schoolmaster (The Cunning Little Vixen), Cassio (Otello), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo (La traviata) and Rodolfo (La bohème). Engagements elsewhere include Cavaradossi (Tosca) for English National Opera, Prunier (La rondine) for Opera North, Schoolmaster, Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi) and Tinca (Il tabarro) for Opéra de Lyon and Italian Tenor (Der Rosenkavalier) for Scottish Opera. He is known to millions for playing Gio Compario in dozens of TV and radio adverts for the multi-million-pound advertising campaign of

Evans presents on both BBC Radio Wales and on Classic FM. In 2010 he signed a six-album deal with Warner Music, and has so far released two highly acclaimed albums, A Song in My Heart (2011) and Wynne (2013).
