Will Holt

Biography

British artist, scenographer and educator Will Holt makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2019/20 Season as the set and video designer for The Lost Thing, a co-production between The Royal Opera and Candoco.

Will is an artist, scenographer and educator. He grew up in Yorkshire and studied fine art at Glasgow School of Art and theatre design on the Motley Theatre Design Course in London. He was a 2007 Linbury Prize finalist. He divides his time between exhibiting as an artist and designing for the stage. Will’s set and video design credits include A Graceful Act of Stupidity (Candoco), The Feeling of Going, Spectrum, To See the World While the Light Lasts, This Moment is your Life and To Find a Way With One Another (Skänes Dansteater/Malmö Opera), Hänsel und Gretel (Vilnius City Opera), Cupid’s Revenge (New Arts Club), (i)Land (Marc Brew), Landscapes, Container, Postcards, Interlude (ENO), Point of Echoes (bgroup), The Walk from the Garden (Salisbury International Festival), Marsha, The Future for Beginners, Rhinegold and Manga Sister (Liveartshow) and Rupture, Snuff and Home: Stornoway (National Theatre of Scotland).

Will has collaborated regularly with Ben Wright since 2012.
