Simone Piazzola

Baritone

Biography

Italian baritone Simone Piazzola made his Royal Opera debut in 2017 as Posa (Don Carlo). In the 2018/19 Season he sings Giorgio Germont (La traviata) for The Royal Opera.

Piazzola was born in Verona and studied with Alda Borelli Morgan. Competition successes include winning second prize in Operalia, 2013. Opera engagements include Giorgio Germont for Paris Opéra, Berlin State Opera, La Fenice, Venice, Semperoper Dresden, Arena di Verona, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia, and in Baden-Baden and Palermo, Don Carlo (Ernani), Posa and Marcello (La bohème) for La Scala, Milan, Count di Luna (Il trovatore) for Rome Opera, Arena di Verona, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Dutch National Opera, Oviedo Opera, Teatro di San Carlo, Naples and La Scala, Renato (Un ballo in maschera) for Paris Opéra, Bavarian State Opera and Rome Opera, Don Carlo di Vargas (La forza del destino) for Munich Opera Festival, Amonasro (Aida) for Vienna State Opera, Simon Boccanegra for La Fenice, Venice, Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Deutsche Oper Berlin and Teatro Real, Madrid, Nottingham (Roberto Devereux) for Bavarian State Opera, Ford (Falstaff) for Berlin FESTTAGE and Marcello for Savonlinna Opera Festival.

Piazzola’s concert appearances include a recital at the Wigmore Hall.
