American bass Scott Conner made his Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Police Inspector (Der Rosenkavalier).
Conner was born in Kansas and studied at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia. He was a member of Semperoper Dresden for the 2012/13 season, where his roles included Colline (La bohème), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Masetto (Don Giovanni) and Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia). Opera engagements since include Nerbulone/Tiferne (Eliogabalo) for Paris Opéra, Colline, Tom (Un ballo in maschera) and Angelotti (Tosca) for San Francisco Opera, Police Inspector for the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Bernardino (Benvenuto Cellini) for Dutch National Opera, Colline, Police Inspector and Zaretsky (Eugene Onegin) for Glyndebourne Festival, Colline, Nourabad (Les Pêcheurs de perles) and Old Monk (Don Carlo), Don Profondo (Il viaggio a Reims) and Zoroastro (Orlando) for Zürich Opera, Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Lille Opera and Nettuno/Tindaro (Elena) and Theseus (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for Aix-en-Provence Festival.
Conner’s concert engagements include Handel’s Messiah with the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center.
