Georgian soprano Salome Jicia made her Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Sifare (Mitridate, re di Ponto). She returns in the 2018/19 Season as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte).

Jicia was born in Zugdidi. After training as a pianist she went on to study voice in Georgia and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, with Renata Scotto and at the Rossini Opera Academy with Alberto Zedda. Opera engagements include Amenaide (Tancredi) for La Monnaie, Brussels, Elena (La donna del lago), Contessa di Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims) and Dorliska (Torvaldo e Dorliska) for the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Violetta (La traviata) for Deutsche Oper Berlin and Macerata Opera Festival, Aspasia (Mitridate, re di Ponto) and Violetta for the State Opera House of Georgia, Rosina (La finta semplice) for Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana in Como, Cremona and Pavia, Semiramide (Semiramide) and Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) for Opéra national de Lorraine, Elena (La donna del lago) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) in Liège, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) in Bologna and Mathilde (Guillaume Tell) for Teatro Massimo di Palermo. Her concert appearances include performing with José Carreras in Kutaisi, Georgia.

Jicia’s awards include the grand prix at the Istanbul International Music Festival and the International Singing Competition, Armenia, first prize at the Lado Ataneli International Singing Competition and first prize and the Maria Foltyn Prize at the Ninth International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition.
