Biography

American tenor Russell Thomas established his reputation in key lyric roles such as Don Carlo, Manrico (Il trovatore), Don Alvaro (La forza del destino) and Pollione (Norma). As an alumnus of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program, Thomas most recently returned to the house for Don Carlo and Rodolfo (La bohème). Other highlights this Season include his role debut as Ernani at Lyric Opera of Chicago, his house debut at Paris Opera as Don Alvaro and concert tours across Europe with the orchestra of the Metropolitan Opera, under Yannick Nezet-Seguin and opposite Renée Fleming. He made his Royal Opera debut in 2013 as Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) and has since returned for the title role of Otello and for Calaf (Turandot).
